How to Quickly Grow Your YouTube Channel Subscribers for Free
As social media marketing becomes more and more powerful, it’s no surprise that many businesses choose to use YouTube as their main source of promotion. YouTube gives you the ability to showcase your personality and company culture while also targeting specific demographics interested in your products or services. To help you grow your subscribers faster than ever before, here are 5 simple ways to quickly grow your YouTube channel subscribers for free (or close to it).
Use Social Media
When people find a YouTube channel that resonates with them, they want to subscribe. Unfortunately, many channels will offer incentives and rewards in exchange for a subscription—but that’s not what makes a channel successful. Instead, you need engagement. You need your audience members coming back again and again because they have no interest in unsubscribing or leaving your community. That’s where social media comes into play. Use it to keep people engaged by sharing content on Facebook and Twitter regularly; use Reddit or Quora if you want more specific, niche traffic; use Pinterest if you know how precious visual content is (and can be); use Google if you want an each- by-one result.
Post on other sites
If you want a fast way to grow your channel, one of your best options are going to be uploading videos to sites like Facebook and Twitter. You'll need an established following on these networks for it to be effective (more about that below), but both have free video-sharing tools that make it easy. In short, by participating in your vids on other channels, you get them in front of new eyes and gain exposure away. If you're looking for free ways to boost YouTube subscribers, a little cross-promotion can go a long way. To do so effectively though, you'll need an existing audience! More on that below...
Upload Quality Videos
To grow a YouTube channel quickly, you need content—lots of it. And not just any content. You need great content that is both engaging and watchable (i.e., your viewers will want to sit through all or most of it). In other words, you need videos that people want to watch! Before uploading your first video, think about how many times per week you can upload a new video and what topics those videos should cover. For example, if you plan on posting a cooking show every Friday at 3 p.m., make sure you set aside time each Wednesday morning to get started on planning and prepping your next episode’s meal.
Engage with others
One of my favorite ways to get YouTube subscribers is by commenting on videos and engaging with others in a friendly way. For example, I’ll comment on a video and ask how they captured such great footage or what type of camera they used. This lets people know that you care about their content and want to learn more about it. More often than not, people will subscribe because you were interested enough in their channel to engage with them. If they don’t subscribe, they might reshare your comment if you give them a compliment—which gets your name out there even more!
Claim your old videos
You don’t need thousands of dollars and an army of production assistants to grow your YouTube channel—you just need an old video. YouTube claims that 40% of new subscribers come from recommendations from existing subscribers. You can take advantage of this by scouring through your back catalog and claiming as many older videos as you can find. At first, no one will see them, but after a few weeks (at most), they will start rising in popularity. If you have multiple channels (as most YouTubers do), be sure to claim them all—especially those with small followings. By claiming and promoting older videos, you can quickly build up your subscriber base and get on your way to becoming a full-time YouTube star!
Comment on other people’s videos
The easiest way to get subscribers on YouTube is by commenting on other people’s videos and liking their stuff. On YouTube, everyone has a subscribe button in their video descriptions. This can help with both building your subscriber base and getting you more views on your content as well. The more you comment, like, and share other people’s content, your channel will become popular. Not only that but those other YouTubers will also be able to see what kind of content you are creating and may subscribe if they find it interesting too! The best part about this tactic is that it costs nothing (other than time), so you have nothing to lose by trying it out!
